Happy Monday! It’s time for another pearl project on Girls Want Pearls. Today’s idea, #47 in my series of 52 pearl posts, is a very easy to make bracelet.
Let’s let the video do the talking…
I think I’m going to like doing video posts. You can see my very first one in my previous post, here Swap & Tell.
Next week’s pearl post hint: Time to book it

Hi Readers! I’ve got some news and I decided to tell you in person (via video)!
Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would record myself and post it for the world to see, but I’m stretching myself and expanding my territory.
So, here goes!
Enjoy your weekend! I’ll be away on the lake with no computer, so I’ll be out of reach till Monday!
I’ve made a habit of showing mostly pretty things on my blog. But sometimes life ain’t pretty. Like when you open your front door and you’re staring down at this…
Yeah. Sinkholes are one of those things that I would classify as “not pretty”. And when they’re right outside your front door, they’re downright scary.
And costly.
This is what remains of the evergreen tree we had to lose so the machinery could come in.
And this is what we salvaged from part of our marble and granite mosaic sidewalk.
Goodbye fancy vacation. :(
I’m grateful we made it out of the situation alive. :)
On another note, this week’s Drop It or Swap It link up will not take place. But watch for an upcoming announcement about some exciting changes happening with the swap!
Happy Monday and welcome to Girls Want Pearls #46! Last week’s pearl post hint was “mind your business”. Today I’m going to show you two easy ways to use pearls in creating unique business card holders. Whether you have a brick and mortar shop or take your product on the road doing shows, you need a place to show off your business cards. A spool of string on pearl feet makes a great business card holder for anyone who sells a creative product.
How to make it:
Using a sharp knife, cut a slot in the side of your cardboard spool, either straight or diagonally, a little bit wider than the business card height, approx. 2 inches. You can make the slot as thick as you like. The one shown is thick enough to hold ten business cards. Glue down the stray pieces of string you cut through to keep them in place. In order to keep your business cards up high enough to display thoroughly you can do one of two things. Either fill the slot to capacity with cards to keep them snug, or place stuffing on the inside of the yarn spool to keep the cards elevated.
The second business card holder is simply a shell and pearls. I had this one around that I have used for a few years to hold my business cards. Someone else had decorated it with pearls and I just added a few more to make it really shine. An easy but pretty business card holder.

Welcome to Drop It or Swap It, the weekly linky party where you can link up with a picture of something old or new, vintage or modern, thrifted or retail. Something that you loved at one time but have dropped from your favorites. It can be clothing, accessories, craft supplies, books, small home decor items, ANYTHING really that you don’t mind mailing. It can have its own dedicated post or be tagged onto the end of another post.
As a blogger you get all the benefits of linking up (new friends, traffic, etc.) PLUS the added perk of new stuff, while purging your own stash.
Did you know? WEBSITE AND ETSY STORE OWNERS can link up an item from your store that you would like to swap. Just add it to a current blog post, Facebook post, Pinterest pin or Instagram feed! COMING SOON: An addition to Drop It or Swap It that will help promote YOUR PRODUCT!

Now let’s start the swap! Please read the guidelines and ask any questions in the comments.
* Look around at the other links until you spy something that interests you. Visit
as many as you like and when you find something you’d like to swap for, leave
the other blogger a comment with a link to your posted item.
* Leave as many swap offers as you like with different bloggers, but please
be courteous and only leave one comment each. If you don’t get a response
just assume the other blogger is not interested or has already swapped.
Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a good Father’s Day weekend. Summer is in full swing, with swimming, baseball, bbqs, nights on the patio, lightning bugs…ahhhh. And I’m starting to hear fireworks, a definite sign of summer. Today is #45 in my series, Girls Want Pearls, and I have a patriotic décor project to show you. It’s a play on my previous post here. I’m going to show you how to make Pearl and Bead Sparkler Sprays for your July 4th table or buffet.
br> The supply list is short: 20 gauge wire, pearls, red beads, blue beads, foil, glitter and glue. I have actually taken vintage mercury bead sprays and modified them but I’ll show you how to make them from scratch.
To create a bouquet of this size (2 sprays): Start by cutting 8 pieces of wire, approx. 14 inches in length. Twist 4 pieces of wire together approx. 6 inches from the bottom to form a wire spray. Thread the beads and pearls on, in solid or alternating patterns. Repeat steps to make the second spray.
Cap them at the top with foil using the method shown here: The above bouquet is 4 sprays. That’s it! You can make several sprays and place them as centerpieces or to beautify your buffet table.
