Can’t Get Enough Stripes

It’s been a while since I’ve shared an outfit. I’m still feeling chubby from winter hibernating (i.e. overeating). I was able to go bike riding twice this past week so I’m on track to shed those 6-8 pounds I gained.

I have to give credit for this outfit to Alice of Happiness at Midlife. I loved the striped blazer she wore in this outfit.

Within the next few days of seeing her post, I went thrifting with friends and found this striped blazer.

Before I saw Alice’s post I prob wouldn’t have given this a second look, but I tried it on and loved it. Today I was lazy and paired it with jeans but I can think of a bunch of ways to remix it. So I have a great new piece in my wardrobe ~ thanks Alice!

Please excuse my hair, I’m extremely overdue for a cut and highlight.

I have some other pieces I picked up thrifting that I can’t wait to show you. Do you thrift shop for clothes? What are some of your recent finds? And speaking of stripes, if you haven’t seen my new link up yet, be sure to check it out in this post. I’m swapping a pair of Tommmy Hilfiger shoes full of stripey cuteness.
Talk soon,
 Ann

Vintage Nelly Don

I love, love it when I can bring vintage clothing back into my wardrobe in a modern way. This skirt is a Nelly Don. I purchased it probably ten years ago at a Kansas City estate sale. I’m disappointed that you can’t see the sheen it has in my photos. It’s part of a 2-pc. skirt suit. I have the jacket too which I often wear styled separately and I’m sure it will make it’s way into a post sooner or later.

Here’s a little history on the Kansas City based Nelly Don clothing company. From Wikipedia:
Nelly Don was a clothing manufacturer and distributor through the 1950s. It was named after its founder, Nell Donnelly Reed. The company was headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri and had additional factories in that state. During World War II it made uniforms for women in the military and factories, and underwear for men in the military.
Nelly Don manufactured 75 million dresses from 1916 to 1978 making it the largest dress manufacturer of the 20th century. They were one of the first companies to apply assembly line techniques to clothing manufacturing. It was reported that she only had to dismiss one employee in the entire history of the company.
Pretty cool, huh?

Black and White and Red All Over

Still a few warm days left and I found this cute dress a couple weeks ago for a steal so I’m sneaking it in before the weather turns cold. Of course, I can think of lots of cold weather ways to restyle it too, with tights and jackets.

I love polka dots! Do you love polka dots? I feel like a girlie girl when I wear them.
And that’s a fun thing!

Leopard, Lace and Leather

It’s a rainy Saturday here and I love it. Candles glowing, windows open and Adele singing, ahhh so inspiring! I don’t typically post on Saturday but I got behind this week fighting off a sinus infection and now I’m raring to go so I decided to share an outfit that I showed a peek of in an earlier post.

Sorry for the cheesy smile!

Mint Green and Vintage Plaid

I can’t wear any fun fall clothes yet coz it’s just too stinkin hot.
Is anyone getting any relief from the heat yet?

So I’m gonna rock the sherbet colors of summer a little while longer and have fun doing so.

Thrifted Tommy Tunic

Well, here goes. My first post of what I wore and how I wore it. I’m really feeling a little shy about this, but since I love, love, love fashion and I design jewelry it only makes since to share this part of my life with my readers.
Am I right?
