Drop It or Swap It Link Up #8

Welcome to Drop It or Swap It, the weekly linky party where you can link up with a picture of something old or new, vintage or modern, thrifted or retail. Something that you loved at one time but have dropped from your favorites. It can be clothing, accessories, craft supplies, books, small home decor items, ANYTHING really that you don’t mind mailing. It can have its own dedicated post or be tagged onto the end of another post.

As a blogger you get all the benefits of a link up PLUS the added perk of new stuff, while purging your own stash.

ETSY STORE OWNERS: You can link up an item from your store, just add it to a current blog post!

And it’s not just for bloggers, non-bloggers can participate as well! The more that participate in Drop It or Swap It the more fun we’ll have, so please share with your friends!

Drop It Or Swap It hat for apron
Last week Tina of What We Keep swapped a cute birdie apron and bird hook with Donna of Distressed Donna Down Home for a pretty spring hat to adorn a front door. You’re missing out on the fun if you haven’t linked up yet!

This is week eight of the link up and many of you have said you would like to participate, so why not jump in this week! We’re still building momentum so I welcome any feedback. Link up a post that contains a picture of the item you would like to swap and have fun shopping around!

Now let’s start the swap!
Please read the guidelines and ask any questions in the comments.

* Link up a post that contains a picture and description of your swap item, using a permalink to your individual post not your general blog URL.
(Non-bloggers click here for a modified version of this)

* Look around at the other links until you spy something that interests you. Visit
as many as you like and when you find something you’d like to swap for, leave
the other blogger a comment with a link to your posted item.

* Leave as many swap offers as you like with different bloggers, but please
be courteous and only leave one comment each. If you don’t get a response
just assume the other blogger is not interested or has already swapped.

* Once you have committed to a swap, please edit your post with a note that
your item is already swapped so you won’t continue to get offers.
(Non-bloggers click here for a modified version of this)

* Exchange address info with your swap partner. Each person will pay shipping
for the item she is sending.

* Please follow your host, Tarnished Royalty with one of the following methods:

OOTD Living in Jeans

Hey there! I’m really enjoying the warmer weather, how about you? We kind of skipped right over spring here in the Midwest and went right into really warm – hot temps. So, while I’m wearing jeans a lot at the moment, I will be wearing a lot more skirts and shorts in the very near future. I’m on the hunt for a new maxi, either dress or skirt.

You really can’t go wrong with skirts for summer, they’re such an easy way to be cool and breezy. What are your go-to summer pieces, skirts, shorts or dresses? Do you keep wearing jeans when the weather gets super hot?

Girls Want Pearls #43: Photo Display

Welcome to Girls Want Pearls #43: Photo Display. Was your weekend a good one? Was it more of a productive or relaxing one? Making things happen or making memories? Today’s pearl project will help you celebrate the snapshots of your life by giving you a place to display the good times you have captured. We’ll be making a sea shell photo display. If you’ve come to this post as a result of clicking the link at Drop It or Swap It, be sure to scroll all the way to the end of the post to see exactly what’s included in my swap item!

Oh, and one more REALLY IMPORTANT thing…

Forming the wire photo display pieces:

Cut the 16 gauge wire pieces to desired length. Form a circle at one end, wrapping around twice as shown. (hint: use a tubular object to wrap around ~ prescription pill bottle, taper candle, etc.) Twist together the other ends of the wire.

Embellishing the conch: Choose a word that conveys your feeling about the photos/memories, and select your letter tiles accordingly. Embellish the conch shell with all your embellishments. I attached mine using E-6000 (does your glue bottle look as gunky and gross as mine?!)

Bend the ends of the wire, two going one direction and the other two going the opposite direction, forming a T. When gluing the wire to the conch, it’s helpful if you can find a crevice or nook in the top/back of the shell to nestle it (I leaned mine against the spikey things on the conch). Attach it with glue, brace up and allow to dry. Once it has dried, brace it further by adding small – medium shells on top of and around the T. Glue them in place and allow to dry.

Now you have a beautiful and unique way to display photos at the beach, vacation and family photos, or fun vintage photos.

If you would like to make a photo display like this one and would love to have all the supplies delivered right to your door, you need to come back and check out this week’s Drop It or Swap It link up, running this Wednesday through Monday (linky opens Tuesday night for early birds). Cause guess what I’m swapping? Yep, everything you need to make your very own sea shell photo display! Items from each of these categories, with hand picked selections from the tiles, buttons/jewels, and small shells categories.

You’ll just need your own photos, glue and any extra embellishments you want to add. Read more about Drop It or Swap It to find out how it works. Please come back and link up!
