Drop It Or Swap It! Link Up #6

Welcome to Drop It or Swap It, the weekly linky party where you can link up with a picture of something old or new, vintage or modern, thrifted or retail. Something that you loved at one time but have dropped from your favorites. It can be clothing, accessories, craft supplies, books, small home decor items, ANYTHING really that you don’t mind mailing. It can have its own dedicated post or be tagged onto the end of another post.

As a blogger you get all the benefits of a link up PLUS the added perk of new stuff, while purging your own stash. And it’s not just for bloggers, non-bloggers can participate as well! The more that participate the more fun we’ll have, so please share with your friends!

Up for Swap: Red Chenille Heart Pillows

Okay ladies (and gents?) this post is all about what I would like to swap this week at Drop It or Swap It. If you have been meaning to join in the new link up but haven’t yet, I encourage you to jump in this week! You can read more about how it works here.

Up for swap is a set of two heart pillows, sewn from an old tattered red chenille bedspread.

The below pic shows the other sides.

The larger pillow is 10″ x 8″ and the smaller pillow is 6″ x 4″. Why would I want to get rid of these little cuties you may wonder. Well, I have made and sold several of them, and still have half a bedspread left to make myself some if I decide to. The pictures show the red to be a little more vibrant, and in reality I think they’re a bit more of a faded red, like you see in the above photo, on the right side of the small heart. So if you have something you want to swap for these pillows, leave me a comment! so sorry, they have been swapped!

Drop It or Swap It starts tonight at 7PM central and runs through Monday night at 9 PM. See you at the swap!

Girls Want Pearls #41: Beautiful Gift Bags

Happy Monday! I hope you enjoyed your weekend and it didn’t fly by too fast! The older I get, the faster time flies, so I’m going to try to savor every minute. Another gift-giving season is upon us with graduations and weddings so today’s Girls Want Pearls (#41) is all about an easy way to

package

those presents

with panache.

All you need is a plain muslin or cotton bag, a doily and pearls. Just trace or freehand the initial of your choice onto the doily with pencil, sew the pearls on and tack the doily onto the bag. Select a ribbon to tie on (I chose a strip of ticking fabric) and fill with goodies.

The above pic shows you a glimpse of a part of the house that hasn’t been renovated. If you’re new to my blog, I should explain that I live in an 1856 home that husband and I have been renovating for 20 years (whoa, that’s a long time) and still aren’t finished. The room beyond the doors is where the stairway to the second floor is. As you can see, we have sanded the floors but have not refinished them. Eventually, eventually…

OK, back to the gift bags.

This is the bag I did first, and after I did the one with the doily and initial I liked it so much better that I almost didn’t show you this one. But, for my burlap-loving friends, here’s another way to embellish a bag with pearls. Again, just needle and thread, a strip of burlap and pearls added to a plain bag. Easy!

This old seed sower bag, stained and shabby, can be perfectly repurposed as a flower display or door arrangement. I’ve tucked some faux roses inside that I will include if desired. Or add your own touch with garden tools, ribbon, or whatever you can dream up.HAS BEEN SWAPPED!
